It's Why I Do These Things I Do.

Reborn - Yamamoto CHIBITA
Sibling (*sharing something he read on the 'Net with me*): "HAHAHA! 'I'll be the Obama to your Hilary!'"

GUYS, GUYS, I've just watched this movie called Stormbreaker and it is the MOST HILARIOUS SILLY-RIDICULOUS parody of British spy movies I have EVER seen. It stars Ewan Mcgregor, Stephen Fry, Bill Nighy, Mickey O'Rourke and the prettiest beautiful new blond thing I have ever laid eyes on. Pretty Blond Thing's name is Alex Pettyfer, and I would choose him for Tidus for the way he makes me feel, except he is (a) too pretty for Tidus, (b) too smart for Tidus, (c) too serious for Tidus, (d) just wrong for Tidus. The only thing he has in common with Tidus is that he is (a) very blond, (b) very pretty, (c) very young. His mother was a model, and he was a model for Ralph Lauren and GAP, which explains why he looks so ridiculously pretty in all his movie shots. He turned down the role of Eragon. ... HOW MUCH PRETTY are we missing out on that we could have had because of that decision!? (Shh, don't tell me it was smart of him to turn down Eragon. I just want PRETTY. I don't NEED smart!)

... he's too young! for lines like:

This is after the Supervillain (who killed his uncle) saves him ... IN THE SAME MANNER as he KILLED HIS UNCLE.

Him: "Why did you do it (save me)?"
Supervillain: "I have displeased my superiors."

[some talking later]

Super-redheaded-supervillain: "You're not meant for this life (of espionage). Leave it. Forget about me."
Him: *fierce glare* "I'll never forget about you."
Supervillain: *shrugs* "It's your choice."

Speaking of FFX, elvaron has just linked me the MOST AMAZING Auron/Braska fic ever. You know there are those stories where you know you'll love them within the first ten lines? Yep! This is one of them. It's by ciceqi, whose FFAC work I adore, and I loved it even though I barely know anything about Braska yet (THAT WILL CHANGE).

Also, kotomine and I are trying to find as many badly+hilariously subtitled movies as we can, and between us we have:

Prisoner of Azkaban Bad Subs
AND the Yu-Gi-Oh Movie Bad Subs - which was WRONGLY subtitled with the SAME MOVIE POA got badsubbed with.
Star Wars: Backstroke of the West Subs
Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers Bad Subs
If you know of any more, please feel free to share! ;)

What Aefallen Means

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are loving, compassionate, and ruled by your feelings.
You are able to be a foundation for other people... but you still know how to have fun.
Sometimes your emotions weigh you down, but you generally feel free from them.

You are relaxed, chill, and very likely to go with the flow.
You are light hearted and accepting. You don't get worked up easily.
Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is.

You are very intuitive and wise. You understand the world better than most people.
You also have a very active imagination. You often get carried away with your thoughts.
You are prone to a little paranoia and jealousy. You sometimes go overboard in interpreting signals.

SO OF COURSE I had to stuff "Atem" in it:

What ATEM Means

You are usually the best at everything ... you strive for perfection.
You are confident, authoritative, and aggressive.
You have the classic "Type A" personality.

You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.
You tend to travel often, to fairly random locations. You're most comfortable when you're far away from home.
You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are confident, self assured, and capable. You are not easily intimidated.
You master any and all skills easily. You don't have to work hard for what you want.
You make your life out to be exactly how you want it. And you'll knock down anyone who gets in your way!

.... I LAUGH SO HARD, GUYS?!

and then of course I had to try this:

What Seto Means

You are the total package - suave, sexy, smart, and strong.
You have the whole world under your spell, and you can influence almost everyone you know.
You don't always resist your urges to crush the weak. Just remember, they don't have as much going for them as you do.

You are friendly, charming, and warm. You get along with almost everyone.
You work hard not to rock the boat. Your easy going attitude brings people together.
At times, you can be a little flaky and irresponsible. But for the important things, you pull it together.

You are quite passionate and easily tempted. Your impulses sometimes get you into trouble.

You are well rounded, with a complete perspective on life.
You are solid and dependable. You are loyal, and people can count on you.
At times, you can be a bit too serious. You tend to put too much pressure on yourself.

The Yuugi/Yugi answer was really wrong, though. Totally off.

Today I met lonedreameryaoi for the

My City By Day Tour

(1) Since she's a movie fan like me, I had to show her The Cathay (my favourite cinema in the country), and warn her away from Golden Village for its thirty-minute ads of DOOM.
(2) Walked to the Singapore Art Museum (it is selling the loveliest stuffed toys for charity)
(3) Walked through the very pretty SMU - all the gorgeous water fountains
(4) National Museum: this was an AMAZING trip: even the free version is amazing! They have a Louvre Treasures exhibition on now that is totally ♥!
(5) Fort Canning
(6) past Stamford House (very pretty), to
(7) CHIJMES; and
(8) Raffles Hotel by day (for photographs, a new perspective!)
Stopped for lunch at a Vietnamese restaurant near Raffles Hotel and then went to Bugis to meet nescienx.

Met up with nescienx, who very kindly put up with me going cloth shopping at Arab Street (God, I love Aik Bee Textiles). We tried out the Fabric Flash Test: trying out how fabric looks under camera flash (you have got to know before you buy it!). nescienx came up with the idea, WHICH IS BRILLIANT. The very nice uncle was incredibly tolerant, many hearts to him!

Then to my place to meet up with aingeal_isilme. ♥ I honestly can't think of a better way to spend a torrential rainy afternoon than indoors with tea and two computers and anime and two of my most favourite people in the entire world. Especially since nescienx will be leaving again on Monday (cries!)! But I cheerfully subjected them to substantially the whole of Gurren Lagann, and and and: nescienx gave me The Office and Dexter *THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU SO MUCH ♥* and I gave her Supernatural and I AM SO HAPPY AT THE FANDOM EXCHANGE.

ohmyGod. nescienx showed us The Fire, from The Office, and

IT WAS EVEN BETTER THAN I IMAGINED IT WOULD BE.

For the longest time now I've been terrified that when I finally saw The Office, I would actually dislike Dwight, but to my COMPLETE JOY, I ACTUALLY LOVE HIM EVEN MORE NOW that I have FINALLY got to see him! I laughed so hard - he is an AMAZING character and his actor is an AMAZING guy for playing that character so damned well!

OH GOD AND THERE WAS SO MUCH MICHAEL/RYAN. SO MUCH. So much INAPPROPRIATE TOUCHING and Michael always wanting to BE ALONE with Ryan and shoving Dwight off for Ryan and hurting Dwight's feelings because Michael was SO OBVIOUSLY RYAN ♥, DWIGHT WHO?!

I wanted to hug Dwight all the time. Especially when he went into the car after Michael said Ryan knew more about business than Dwight did. And then he played EVERYBODY HUUUUUURTS.

And Jim+Pam were nice to him and then laughed about it afterwards.

... Jim's girlfriend looks SO MUCH LIKE PAM. It is a pity we cannot remember her name. Neither nescienx could remember the name of Ryan and Michael's girlfriends off the top of our heads. I thought Ryan was dating Kelly, but I wasn't sure.

OH RYAN. I think I've met too many people just like you to ever be able to like you.

I just want to make this massive Office post with screencaps everywhere going MY OTP, THIS OTP TOO, THIS IS MY OT3, ETC. ETC. ETC.

This episode of the Office is full of so much sad unrequited shipper moments for the slash fandom! Michael is crushing so hard on Ryan and Ryan is ^^;;; "Eheh. Uh." *edges away* Ryan is such a bad actor. I don't mean the actor is a bad actor, but ARGH, IT IS SO PATENTLY OBVIOUS what he is REALLY THINKING that I wonder how he's ever going to do in business.

I ship Dwight/Michael so hard. Also it is so unrequited, I cry! Just like Michael/Ryan is unrequited! But it is so sad, really!

Therefore I conclude that Dwight and Ryan should totally get together. ♥

AHAHAHAHAHAHA, and that scene where they all answer the "Who Would You Do" question had me hysterical. OF COURSE MICHAEL WOULD WANT TO SLEEP WITH RYAN. WAS IT EVER A QUESTION.

GOD THERE WERE SO MANY MICHAEL/RYAN MOMENTS, and I just went "OH GOD THAT IS SO WRONG" when during the fire, Michael went off with Ryan ALONE, and then got RYAN CORNERED IN HIS CAR. It was so POTENTIAL TEENAGE DRIVE-IN MAKEOUT SCENE except Ryan REFUSED TO PLAY ALONG.

... God, if you get off on Ryan's discomfort... this is such an AMAZING show. ♥

... I laughed so hard at the RYAN STARTED THE FIRE ~ song. SO GOOD.

... now I really want to go and watch that episode where Dwight takes Ryan off for a sales training course and then ties him up in the cornfields. ♥!

... WHY is it that it seems like at least 30% of YOU GUYS were into YGO long before I ever heard of it? If I go back through playthedamncard's entries to 2006, I FIND SO MANY OF YOU THERE?!

To sum it all up, "Screw the rules, I have money!" Hahaha! That is so Seto Kaiba indeed! XD

Random fact: Every time I install a new software in my laptop I always type in Seto Kaiba as the owner and Kaiba Corporation as the company. I never thought anyone would notice until a friend of my sister's pointed it out in front of a lot of people. I JUST DIED XDDDD~
5th-Jan-2008 03:38 pm (UTC) - massively dorky YGO comment
OH MAN, I THOUGHT THE SAME THING! I read the first three lines and I was, "THIS WAS MADE FOR KAIBA!" IT'S JUST, SO DARN HIM, ALL OVER!

I THOUGHT THIS WAS PERFECT FOR ATEM:

"You are a seeker. You often find yourself restless - and you have a lot of questions about life.

OHGOD ILU for the Seto Kaiba thing! ♥ If I had been in the crowd of people I would have cheerfully hurled myself at you with LOVE and SAID, "YUGIOH FAN TOO?!" ♥

... ohmyGod. I probably do something even worse: near my office there is this tiny tiny tiny anime and figurine store, and every time I walk past it, I pretend it is the Kame Game Shop, and ... sometimes when I'm walking around in my office I pretend IT is KaibaCorp. Especially when I'm around the meeting rooms and the incredibly impressive boardroom.

... :D

d00d, if I'm not wrong, Stormbreaker is actually based on a series of spy kid books by someone called Anthony Horowitz (or something). I have no idea if the movie is close to the books though. XD

I vaguely considered reading them for the trashy entertainment value, but uh, never got around to it. READ ONE AND TELL ME HOW IT IS :DDD
5th-Jan-2008 04:07 pm (UTC)
COULD THE BOOKS ever compare to the movie? WILL IT HAVE PRETTY BLOND THING IN IT? ♥

ohgod I have gotten to the stage where I am buying books and barely having the time to read them? But but the NLB has the Stormbreaker book, I do think I will drop by and borrow it, or reserve it if it is all borrowed out? I have to my great distress discovered the joy of reserving books (a) you know it will be in when you get to the library, (b) you don't need to hunt for it (c) it is given directly to you, and I am very willing to pay the $1.50 fee for the popular books that I really want!

HAHAHAHA PEI YI I HAVE THE FOURTH TEMERAIRE BOOK, you want? The sibling is reading it now, but should be done by the time we meet again! Both of us find it UNPUTDOWNABLE. XD

I LOVE TRASHY ENTERTAINMENT, I HOPE THIS LIVES UP TO MY NON-EXISTENT EXPECTATIONS!

*beams* So true! And the uncle there is really nice and helpful and not snappy! It has three full shops of cloth, though I always seem to forget exactly where it is whenever I go back there! I usually walk right past.

5th-Jan-2008 04:03 pm (UTC) - In which Dean is passed around as fandom currency
I absolutely love Stormbreaker, even if I didn't get to finish it 'cause I was watching it on the flight back to SG about 2 years ago methinks.

"Well adjusted and incredibly happy, many people wonder what your secret to life is."

That is so true!

And re:The Office. BE STRONG WITH SEASON 1. I couldn't tolerate Michael so much I had to take one day's break at least between episodes. D:

Thanks for the Gurren Lagann runthrough. :D I enjoyed the craziness and Simon is just so. much. hotter. later on. :D; *shallow*
5th-Jan-2008 04:18 pm (UTC) - "Newsflash! Fandom Dean Currency Inflation!"
! You loved Stormbreaker! Okay, there must be something to that novel! I must go and try it out now! ♥

*grin* Thank you so much, sweetheart. ♥ Although sometimes I think my secret is keeping aside the bad and focusing on the good. ;)

Also, I think that this bad!sub could apply to the State Of My Increasingly Evil Soul:

I WILL BE STRONG! In fact, I may just jump right into Season 2! XD
You're most welcome! ♥ Thank you for letting me subject you guys to Gurren Lagann and acquiescing with such good grace! *beams* THE CRAZY WAS INDEED CRAZY, and oh yes! timeskip!Simon, is SO HOT. ♥
Don't worry, I'm superficial too! :D You're in GREAT good company! (even if I do say so myself!)
5th-Jan-2008 04:24 pm (UTC)
HE LOOKS EXACTLY LIKE ERAGON!! :D :D :D I AGREE, BLONDE AND PRETTY. :))))

And, my dear, how do you have so much energy to fangirl with the type of hours you're pulling at work? I MUST LEARN FROM YOU XDDD
5th-Jan-2008 04:30 pm (UTC)
Isn't he the prettiest blond thing ever? ♥ He actually has lovely refined features, too, so I think he has an edge over Ed Speelers (Eragon) when it comes to classiness. *grin* He's closer to the Draco Malfoy side of the blond-pretty scale than the farmboy-dragonrider side! ;)

EEEEEE I'M SO HAPPY TO HEAR FROM YOU! *HUUUUUGS*

Sometimes I don't know how I do it either! *laughs* My weekends are actually even busier than my weekdays, even more so this time because a friend is visiting from the UK for a short time. And tomorrow it's

(a) lunch with family
(b) movie with friend
(c) night safari with visiting friend

... HOW WILL I SURVIVE XDDD
and then BACK TO WORK ON MONDAY

SO MANY THINGS TO DO, SO VERY LITTLE TIME! I just have to make the most of the TIME THAT IS GIVEN TO ME < / lotr >

I think a big part of it is that I seem to draw energy from being in the company of people, which helps.

... unless I have too much company, in which case I become exhausted. XD AND THEN BY STRANGE OPPOSITE REACTION BECOME TEMPORARILY ANTISOCIAL. ♥
5th-Jan-2008 05:05 pm (UTC)
Oh my god, I was watching Stormbreaker too. It was pretty close to what the book actually is, haha. I was pretty surprised but it was very cheesy. Especially the Nadia Vole, the german lady who looked like she was constantly constipated.
5th-Jan-2008 06:11 pm (UTC)
You were watching it too?! ♥ GREAT STUFF! *beams* It was spectacularly cheesy! There were parts where I was LAUGHING because I was, "OH GOD, ARE THEY SERIOUS?!"

Oh. Nadia Vole! OH DEAR. She was the archetype of the blond-bitch-goddess type that always plagues the spy thrillers. ... that fight between her and Jack, involving the puffer fish, was ridiculous!

Also Jack was a total flake! That made me sad! I thought she would be revealed to be SECRETLY KICKASS!
5th-Jan-2008 08:47 pm (UTC)
OH MY GOD.

IT'S BY ANTHONY HOROWITZ? I didn't know! I love Horowitz! *ESTATIC!*

I didn't even know it was a series! O.o; MY GOD. YOU HAVE MADE MY DAY. OR MY MONTH, BECAUSE NOW I HAVE TO GO AND SEARCH FOR THE OTHER BOOKS. I only read Bolbliksem (Stormbreaker in Dutch, apparently! xD) and never connected it to the movie until now. *facepalm!*

FDJQSKLJQKLSJKSQLJSQKLJQS.

Stormbreaker is my least favourite book of Horowitz' though. =/ I prefered the Groosham Grange series... Stormbreaker didn't feel Horowitz-y to me. *shrugs!*
5th-Jan-2008 08:57 pm (UTC)
GAAAH! Now I have to avoid the rest of your post and the comments? =/ ARE THERE ANY SPOILERS? I really want to read your post! *dies!*

ALSO ALEX IS A MILLION TIMES HOTTER THAN I EVER IMAGINED HIM TO BE. I would totally turn straight for that boy. *____*
6th-Jan-2008 01:45 am (UTC)
Hahaha, I love nescienx EVEN MORE for showing "The Fire" first! ;) It is unsurprisingly one of my favorites from Season 2. I remember I kept asking her if she had seen the episode yet. *laughs*

I AM SO GLAD YOU LIKE DWIGHT EVEN MORE THAN YOU HAD ORIGINALLY. Everyone should love Dwight. He is AWESOME.

Jim's girlfriend's name was Katy. ;) And I don't think Michael or Ryan had girlfriends at that time. Michael eventually dates Carol in Casino Night and Ryan hooks up with Kelly on February 13th, the day before Valentine's.

... OH MY GOD I AM AN OFFICE TRIVIA NERD.

OH RYAN. I think I've met too many people just like you to ever be able to like you.
*shrinks away* XDDD

And I KNOW, Ryan is terrible at masking his feelings. But so is Michael. ;) AND DWIGHT, TOO, for that matter. It's just that Ryan lacks the enthusiasm for sales and customer interaction that make both Michael and Dwight excellent salesmen. Ryan FAILS SO BADLY at sales that when he is given the full-time position he can't even make ONE sale. XD So yes, when it comes to playing nice he is a terrible actor! XD Ryan's impersonal, detached, and emotionally removed. Thematically speaking, it makes him the perfect corporate suit. ;)

I ship Dwight/Michael so hard. Also it is so unrequited, I cry! Just like Michael/Ryan is unrequited! But it is so sad, really!
Your ship is more hopeful than mine, though! Dwight and Michael share some of the most touching scenes in the show. They HUG IT OUT, BITCH. Multiple times! ;)

Therefore I conclude that Dwight and Ryan should totally get together. ♥
One of my friends has evilly been sending me "DWIGHT AND RYAN" text messages at random intervals just to MESS WITH MY HEAD and to see whether or not said messages will manifest in my dreams! I am DDDDD: OH GOD NO at the prospect of that ever happening. EVER.

AHAHAHAHAHAHA, and that scene where they all answer the "Who Would You Do" question had me hysterical. OF COURSE MICHAEL WOULD WANT TO SLEEP WITH RYAN. WAS IT EVER A QUESTION.
ROY: YOU'RE ALL GAY! HAHAHAHA.
DID YOU SEE DWIGHT'S REACTION SHOT in that scene. It is so heartbreaking. Total rejection!look. Pity I hail from the DARK SIDE of your ship and was too busy going LKJDFOSDFHSDLFHJL MICHAEL WANTS RYAN \o/ to feel any pain for Dwight! And actually I didn't even notice Dwight's sad, sad look until UHM YESTERDAY, when I was laying Michael/Ryan scenes on a timeline to see how long a compilation of Michael's unrequited love would run. *laughs*
6th-Jan-2008 11:35 am (UTC)
XD The Fire was one of my favourite episodes because I COULDN'T BELIEVE DWIGHT BURST INTO A BOUT OF BILLY JOEL.

That Dwight/Ryan friend of yours has an excellent idea, but I would just try and get you back into Psych just for random Lassi/Shawn squeeness. XDDD

Are you kidding? I could so feel Dwight's heart breaking each time Michael pushes him away and choose to ignore it but maybe you did the same thing too, except you took one step further and forgot all about it. XD
6th-Jan-2008 08:13 am (UTC)
I just watched Stormbreakers on the TV! Ahahahahah! You're right, he's pretty!

(Also, you neglected the long looks they had with each other at the ending! hahahaha)
6th-Jan-2008 11:37 am (UTC)
XD I watched where I left it off a year ago. SOMEHOW. I got home, turned on the channel, and there it was. WHERE I LEFT THE MOVIE. I noticed the long looks but for some reason it didn't seem to be wrong, otherwise I'd so slash them on the spot.
6th-Jan-2008 02:51 pm (UTC)
XD i actually caught most of Stormbreakers while on the flight to or from Sydney the last time i went, i think. Thought that it was so cheesy, but there was pretty, so who cares? ;D

Thank you for having me over yesterday too, and for the Cliff Notes version of Gurren Lagann XDD i'd read the wikipedia article before to find out what it was all about, after seeing it mentioned on your LJ so frequently, but it was really only seeing it in action that made me understand the appeal. From what i've seen, i think Viral or Rossiu would be my favourite characters. Crazy/misguided but well-intentioned or honourable characters just seem more interesting somehow - not necessarily the most likeable, but their flaws make them more... the word escapes me now >>; Sort of like serving as a reminder that what is seen as lit or shadowed depends very much on where the light's shining from and where you're standing, even if the objects being looked at are the same... it's all a matter of framing the issue with what knowledge you have at the time. ...that made sense in my head, anyway. <<;

Would have brought my laptop, except i really have nothing to show, except a few hundred Sims 2 pics D: Speaking of which, getting to meet up with you makes me feel like this -->

6th-Jan-2008 09:17 pm (UTC)
Another blond pretty boy! I must say I'm glad he didn't choose to play in Aragorn, I would totally have hated him (pretty or no).

As someone who doesn't really like the Office, you're making me want to watch it><

is this the movie or the TV show because I'm pretty sure they're different in some weird inexplicable wayXD
