Up to my eyeballs in solicitor-ethics lectures this week, which also marks the one month + one week anniversary of my being put intensively on this case which has eaten my mind with its closing arguments. I obsess as badly about work as I do about the series I love, except that I do not obsess about the series I love thirteen hours a day, five days (and sometimes more!) a week. I can't actually seem to shut off about work even when I leave the office, so I could be waiting at a traffic light and find myself thinking, How can I work that case in, How am I going to handle that point, Did I address that issue adequately?

To my complete shock, I managed to really like the main female lead despite her looking like this and being Generally The Sort of Annoying Manga Girl I Thought I Loved To Hate. I think she's kickass and obsessive, and a large part of this I blame on reading morphaileffect's The Tenth Diary - a Gokudera/Tsuna slanted crossover between Mirai Nikki and Reborn. I'm not sure if I love the female lead because I equate her with Gokudera, but: ( this is why I loved Mirai Nikki more because it reminded me of Reborn. )

★ MANGA REC #2: ULTIMO, the manga lovechild of Hiroyuki Takei (responsible for Shaman King) and Stan Lee. Hugh Laurie in Blackadder - as the Prince Regent, in Blackadder. I watched Blackadder long before House was a twinkle in Master Laurie's eye, and the Prince Regent always made me want to A) laugh hysterically, B) strangle him, C) wonder long and hard about how anyone could be that stupid, even on television. I really don't associate this character with House at all, but with Hugh Laurie.

And oh, was the Prince Regent fabulously gay, in every sense of the word.

The funny thing is, I wouldn't have picked up DGM without Abyss, because one of the first things that struck me about the series was how much Kanda resembled Asch, but an Asch that made me laugh and laugh and laugh. Kanda takes himself so seriously it completely cracks me up, and, well, check out the cast! The only way they could make me happier is by casting Saiga Mitsuki as Fou. And I loved DGM because it took the replica concept and went to town with it. Here, let me show you!

Okay okay, I really really probably won't have time to make a proper Abyss post on this, but this has English Abyss videos, and altitudeissues put a really good one up, and I get to hear Dist's voice AT LAST, and also, GUY, I would applaud you if only I had both hands free! Jade and Dist being creepy. When I heard Dist's voice, it was like a bolt of Dear heavens! His voice is sexy! *grin* And also, Luke, Guy, Natalia, Tear, Anise and Jade take turns asking for Peony's sword. OH THIS IS LOVE I TELL YOU. XD

I wrote rubbish Tales of the Abyss fanfiction here and here. It's the most Asch/Luke I've ever written and it's pretty much G-rated at that. I wrote better before I knew more about the series because I actually dared to do more when I wasn't so worried about messing up. For my own reference so I don't have to hunt it down later. and also because I'm disturbingly embarrassed about my own writing because I've seen really good writers.

kingdom hearts 2 fic recommendations

[Vexen/Xigbar fic]: 8,700 words, and I loved this. I rarely, if ever, read Organisation fic, but this was excellent. It was funny, and at the same time, wasn't unrealistic. It really made the pairing work for me, even though it's one I don't normally think of. If you don't have time for anything else... read this or the next fic.

[I Against I]: When I heard that lazulisong had written this Riku fic, I knew that I'd do whatever it took to read this. And I loved it. It's the Tales of the Abyss story I'll never get, and absolutely perfect for KH2.

[Fish or Cut Bait]: Riku/Sora. This just made me giddy with happy like you wouldn't believe.

[Five Drabbles]: Axel, Roxas, Riku and Sora, but the reason I liked this was the Axel/Sora. If I ever leave Riku/Sora, it'll be for this pairing. I haven't yet found fic that gives me true-blue Axel/Sora, but I'll find it one day!

[CFUD - Audience Appreciation]: If you follow cfud, this particular set has Riddle-Axel interaction that was priceless. I'm always on the lookout for someone who can take Axel's Got it memorized and give it right back to him, and Riddle does just that.

[Good Enough] - Axel/Riku high-school AU, beautifully and wonderfully done.

IRL, I'm cranky all the time now, I sleep very badly and today I started losing my appetite, but I suppose things will look up sometime. Anyway, Why it is a BAD BAD IDEA to name your electrical appliances after tales of the abyss characters. No you see, Luke (the substitute computer Niisan and I have been sharing because BOTH our computers died) went back to the rental company, and then Asch (Niisan's computer) PROMPTLY WENT MAD. I regained my computer and renamed him Suzuki, and HE went a bit mad the night before Luke was going to leave. I SWEAR COMPUTERS KNOW THESE THINGS. Now Asch is trying to send Niisan messages by deliberately messing up his keyboard so the keys say A = and I bet the NEXT KEY TO GO NUTS WILL BE THE L key.

Again with NOT naming your appliances after Abyss characters, because after I named my iPod Luke he lost his memory. NO REALLY. He became am amnesiac because my computer died. iPods, you see, are bound eternally to the iTunes library they first connect to, so once you lose your iTunes library - or if it even CHANGES LOCATION ON THE COMPUTER - the computer no longer remembers it. So if I want to be able to work with my iPod again, I had to RESET it and RESYNC it to my library. AND OF COURSE it was "Your music library is WAY TOO BIG to fit into this tiny tiny iPod... SO WOULD YOU like to create the Luke von Faber song selection".

Me: =___= "DO I HAVE A CHOICE?!"

That aside Luke randomly selected a whole slew of TOA songs for his playlist, so I can't complain.

Also, do you know you can put pictures in Ipods? I didn't know until I read this brilliant entry on how to Abyssify your iPod. IT RULED, SO I DID THAT. And for a while there wasn't enough space in Luke for the pictures to turn up, but after he lost his memory ALL THE ABYSS PICTURES RETURNED. HAHAHAHAHA.

I am a KKM fan ALWAYS AND FOREVER because IIIIIIIIII will always love you. ♥ KKM will always BE a instantaneous shot of utter and complete joy for me, and it seems so no matter how many other series I end up going crazy over.

Fountains are the heart and soul of YUURI/WOLFRAM LOVE. KKM ended with Yuuri and Wolfram in a fountain (yes, Mura-Mura was there, but this time my Yuuri/Wolfram love OWNS ALL - don't worry Mura-Mura! I STILL LOVE YOU TOO!) Every time I look at these two I get so happy like you would not believe. They're not made for each other the way Asch and Luke are, but there is SOMETHING about them that I love so much. Yuuri/Wolfram is the AGAINST ALL ODDS kind of love, in a way, and I love that.

DIES LAUGHING Niisan just let me listen to this Sakurai Takahiro x Midorikawa Hikaru BL drama (it's called Kirei Papa) - and Midorikawa is Miyata Kouki's dad, and MORIKAWA TOSHIYUKI is Midorikawa's FATHER and his name is CHIHIRO. CHIHIRO. WAY to feed my Suzuki Chihiro love without even intending it, Morikawa! And Morikawa's character is... well, he is basically ISSHIN FROM BLEACH. "Call me CHIIII-SAAAAN!!! :D :D :D" is the gist of it. Yeah, it's still really hard to get over that SEPHIROTH and Conrad from KKM are ISSHIN FROM BLEACH. I still remember the brain-breakage when kateriya told me that. ♥

Since I've been meaning to for quite a while, HERE ARE SEIYUU PICTURES. :D First up is the Gakuen Heaven cast. I must say that the whole "Let's Get the Seiyuu to Pose Like the Characters!" gimmick will never get old for me.

I really really like the way Sakurai looks in this photograph. There aren't as many good Sakurai photographs out there as there should be, so this one is special. This anime’s got Fukuyuma Jun (Watanuki in XXXHolic, Tooru in Princess Princess) as Ito Keita, Sakurai Takahiro (Cloud Strife in FF7/AC, Yuuri in KKM, Kira Izuru in Bleach, Haruka in Tactics, Orpherus in Meine Liebe, Ray Langren in GunXSword, I could go on and on, I lose count of the number of series I follow because this man is in it :D), Morikawa Toshiyuki (Sephiroth in FF7/AC, Conrad in KKM, Isshin in Bleach – [HA YEAH], I could ALSO go on and on) as Nakajima.

Uh, you can also see how biased I am because I only remember roles and names for a very limited number of seiyuu, and the usual thing they all have in common is that they were in KKM. But there is ONE EXCEPTION to the rule that the only seiyuu I remember are the ones who have been in KKM, and his name is SUZUKI CHIHIRO.

Suzuki Chihiro. How much do I love this one, let me count the ways. This one is my personal favourite. xD I like him even more than Sakurai and that’s really difficult to top (uhhhhh I did not intend that) as far as I’m concerned. The only thing that’s a pity about Suzuki is I wish he would voice more current anime roles, but it’s all right, there’s LOTS to fall back on. The only question is where to start. I first started noticing him because he was on Tales of the Abyss, and I just could not believe it when I looked at the photograph of Asch’s seiyuu and I was THAT PRETTY THING IS ASCH’S VOICE ACTOR SHOCK HORROR

… KKM is the only thing that can get me to stop talking about Abyss. For a series that’s ended its run, you could never tell. KKM is still getting features in Animage and Animedia and it’s still being serialised in Asuka. (Now I know where to buy Asuka, D8, it looks like I’m not going to stop as long as I get Wolfram). And Yuuri’s brother Shouri TOTALLY has a brother complex. Even Conrad says so. I so need to do a separate KKM post. And a separate Gakuen post. And even a separate PRINCESS PRINCESS post. Darn, this rocks. xD When I get on a roll with LJ NOTHING CAN STOP ME.

Naturally, following this very long entry, seiyuu photographs follow. For those reading this, I don't really know what your seiyuu policy is like. I can imagine that you might not want to see the faces behind the voices and characters you love so much, because some of them can come as rather a shock. Maybe it's like... wowIneedabetteranalogythanthis... certain types of food, because you can eat them but you sure don't wanna know how they're made. But so all the seiyuu talk was above and all the photographs are below, so if you don't wanna see it you don't have to. But for those who do, here goes!

And because I read a fic last night and had to write this: I have a strange habit. When I get wired/high, I have to get up and walk. It usually happens when I'm at a desk - sometimes I'm at my computer, I read something that knocks my socks off or makes me HIGH HAPPY YEAH, I have to get up and walk. I get drinks I don't need, I walk up and down the house, I get exercise done because I can't get fics or lines or images out of my head. I do this during exam times, too - I like blasting music through earphones and wandering up and down my house. When there's no room I climb stairs. I sometimes have a lot of energy and there is SOMEWHERE it has to go to, and when it's late at night and I can't go out this is where it goes - I walk.

Well, I was reading reisha's Reno/Kadaj AU fic, and when I hit her explanation of what Jenova was and what it did to Sephiroth, I had to get up and walk all the way down the hall. And then I came back, read it again, and had to go downstairs to get a drink I didn't need. I LOVED IT.

When I read fanfiction, I have one rule that never gets broken: Read anything, because you never know when you'll find what you like. This story, it had not at all the ending I expected, not at all a Reno I expected, and I loved it.

It's so pretty seeing the dawn rise on London. The streets are so quiet, and there's a special Sunday peace that's not there on any other day. I was passing by Hyde Park and the trees looked so beautiful with all their leaves that I can't believe that Fall is going to start soon. HAPPINESS for the sun only coming up at 6+am. In summer I am all NOOOOOO when the sun rises at 4am in the morning. I'M STILL AWAKE!

On the plane the Murata muse said that his and Yuuri's song was "La Bamba". ... Well, canonically speaking, Peter and Mary Jane (Spider-man)'s song is "Kung Fu Fighting", so I guess they didn't do that badly.

You know you've been reading WAY TOO MUCH CFUD when you're on a plane and you keep thinking, "Oh, Heika, why weren't you born a sheep? We could have been so happy - sleeping, eating, and biting random people." That's CFUD's T-Zou, by the way. I can remember these things almost-verbatim.
