Reborn - Yamamoto CHIBITA

Stayed up til 6am this morning to complete an assignment on MMORPGS. Why yes, I love what I do, especially when in the course of research I find that my university library holds a copy of a book dedicated to Pokemon. POKEMON, I ask you. Also, a student in my university got funded by the Sumitomo Corporation to write a book on the effects of Japanese videogame culture on my country. Assignment complete, and I would completely go and play Abyss except for the fact that staring at the computer screen and working for so long has gave me a nasty headache and giddiness that refuses to go away, even some twelve hours later. Couldn't take painkillers for six hours of that lovely experience because I didn't want to fall asleep on the assignment. Left the house for lunch and soon realised it was a bad, bad idea. I can push myself far enough, but sometimes the body isn't having any of it.

Also, playing Abyss makes me dream about constititional law. Got up to the Desert Oasis with my brother last Saturday night, almost dropped the console when we got that Asch-in-the-rain cutscene, because I seriously wasn't expecting it, and then went to bed and dreamt I was about to sit for my constitutional law exam. It's like whenever I play three hours of Abyss in a sitting - I'll be overcome by the sudden need to study. Oh, studying law is a demon sometimes, why can't I quit you. *grin* But you know, the best part of it is, you'll be groggy and barely able to stand after three days of intensive paper-writing, and you still are so damned glad you're doing this. At least, I am. And so happy that the assignment is out of the way so I can focus on studying for my exams. For a time all I could do was live, breathe and think this assignment.

If Asch and Luke were a branch of law, they would be the tort of passing off. Yes, I do these things with my free thinking time. And also, when I finally write Axel/Sora fic, it will be called Force Majeure. What's the point of two years of contract law if you aren't going to title Kingdom Hearts fic after it? *glee* This also reminds me that I'll one day need to type up and post the Replica/Sora fic I wrote after one law student party where I received a through education on the numerous ways in which one can conceal the true alcohol content of the drinks and snacks one gives one's guests. Tip: Lots of sugar, jelly, and syrup. And it won't even feel like you're drinking that much until the alcohol hits later. >D IT WAS GOOD FUN. In university I learned that the three classes of students who drink the most, in descending order, are the vets, the medics, and then, the lawyers. It's all true. In a friend's university, the vets used to hold the wildest parties, and run out after them to tip cows in the cornfields.

Also it is a terrible thing sometimes when I'm writing Abyss fanfiction, and intend to write about Asch yelling at Luke for a - and instead of writing transgression like I mean to, I think infringement and for a time, for the life of me, can't think of any other word that would be more appropriate.

Also, in the course of research I turned up something fascinating. Psychology students and Abyss fans might be interested in the work of a certain Solomon E. Asch, who wrote the famous paper Opinions and Social Pressure, and devised the Asch conformity test. I just thought it'd be terribly fun to cite Asch in a school paper. So you can say every time you agree with someone else, you're giving in to the Asch effect. Now that site in particular has a fascinating summary on the number of subsequent attempts to replicate Asch. No, really. It's amazing what you can find off 4chan.

The second Kingdom Hearts II: Chain of Memories book is out in English! Got it on the probably ill-advised trip out of the house today. Newsagent guy who sold it to me was very entertaining. "You must have been waiting for this for a long time!" he said, as he sold it to me. "This just came in last night!" The only way he could have guessed that is that I must have done a very poor job of concealing my enthusiasm.

pic_murasaki linked the new Abyss Drama CD cover here, and meimi wrote excellent Abyss fanfiction here. And also, there is an Abyss-Symphonia crossover here. I firmly believe a fandom can't say it's made it until it has a high-school AU and crossovers, and Abyss at last has both! (Do bear in mind that good fanfiction makes me VERY HAPPY, and bad fanfiction makes me EVEN HAPPIER)

I want to post pictures from Kyoto, but I am feeling spectacularly un-up-to-it now. Also it seems every time I talk to anyasy about FF12 Ashe and Basch get the same, new, identical, name. xD

I LOVE YOU FOR COINCIDENCES. ♥ Because that's one of the prettiest Abyss artworks I've ever seen. *griiiiin*

And may be also one of the best coincidences in LJ/DA surfing ever. ; )

Have two songs that remind me of this series:

Ichirin no Hana - High and Mighty Colour
[One of the characters in this series reminds me of a flower on the edge of an abyss - something that is both beautiful and doomed. ... well, technically, a flower on an abyss' edge isn't really doomed if it's deep-rooted...)
Deep In Your Heart - Doumoto Koichi

*GRIN* Dudes does fine, too. *beams* Yep! You definitely got that right! *smiles* It's a guy and his replica! ♥

XDDDDD I can never seem to get away from talking about this game in every entry. *grin*

Yes! ; ) It's actually a Bleach theme song. *smiles* Which I later learnt to really like. And yes, it's that Doumoto Koichi! He released a solo album this year, and this track is from that album! ; )

Congrats on finishing the assignment! One module down, deshou? :D
16th-Nov-2006 01:15 pm (UTC)
*griin* Yes! ; ) One module down! *beams* You just reminded me of that! ; ) THERE IS MORE TO BE GRATEFUL FOR ♥

I am staring at an article about the death penalty by Michael Hor. Past year questions, however, seem to be more in love with civil liberties. XD

*snug* All the best with studying! *the spirit of synchronous studying unites us!*

There's something really wrong with my eyes. I keep reading sleep and sheep (to wit: Reeve and sleep) and I just read snug as snog. Blaurgh.

Good luck for your exams! When's the first one?
16th-Nov-2006 01:21 pm (UTC) - I feel that there is something wildly ironic about using my happy!Tamaki icon on an exam comment. XD
I DO THE SAME THING TOO. :D Although I am quite happy when fandom-related mistakes like that occur. ; )

Thought that flashed through my mind: Reeve the sheep is asleep. :D

*snugs you happily* You need REST, too. *hugs tight*

Good luck for your exams too! Heh, my first exam is next Saturday - the same day as harajukufuuri's. Yours will be around the same time too?

16th-Nov-2006 01:31 pm (UTC) - THERE IS. But Tamaki is brilliant, so.
Wow, all of us have exams on Saturday. Insanity. Where on earth are they going to fit all of us? There aren't that many potential exam venues!

And if they make us go back to Kent Ridge I shall choke a bitch. *cough*

*grumble* I need bad things to stop happening to me.
16th-Nov-2006 01:56 pm (UTC) - Can you imagine him in an exam hall going KYAAAAAA over a paper? xD
Our university's students have no breaks. D< Saturday? Just an ORDINARY DAY ~

I'm going to be in Bukit Timah, though - you can check your venues on the website already? I think you should be in Bukit Timah too. I think they're going to split us up into different rooms for the same exam.

Heh, our Constitutional law lecturer was telling us about what it was like when they had exams during the SARS period - doors open, fans blowing everywhere, papers in baskets because students weren't allowed to touch them. I almost wrote paopu instead of paper, there.

*snug* You definitely need bad things to stop happening to you. *hugs* Because then we can't see you! And that is a bad thing for us : (((

I love how games seem to spark such an interest in your studying. XDDD;;; I wish they would -- and your post really do make me [and some other people] want to play the Tales series. XDDDD
16th-Nov-2006 01:18 pm (UTC)
*beams* I think it's part of the scary obsession-tactics that has me connecting the game to anything and everything I see. It makes studying a lot more fun. *grin*

! It does? *beams* You make me so happy to hear it! *beams* Whenever you're free after the exams, you're welcome at my place anytime to play it! *grin* I always look forward to sharing this game with other people, and with a PS2 over at my place, I will share it FOR THE GOOD OF THE WORLD ♥ *grin* Seriously, you're welcome at my place anytime! *grin*

This game actually made me want to try the rest of the Tales series, too - if I do go on to other Tales games the next one will probably be Symphonia, and at some point it will be Legendia. ; )

16th-Nov-2006 02:44 pm (UTC) - Wait a sec...
Wait a sec... you like Abyss High Schol AUs??? If that's the case, then I have one! It's in meh LJ....
16th-Nov-2006 02:52 pm (UTC) - *GRIN* As it happens -
I actually meant your Abyss High School AU. *grin* I read it first on ff.net, and I enjoyed it very much. So when I first saw you on LJ I knew quite soon that you were the writer. *beams* I really liked the first chapter, by the way. ; ) And like quite a few people, I'm eagerly awaiting an update! ; ) But seriously, take your time. ; ) We'll wait!
