First Week of Work, Blades of Glory, and On Siblings.

First week at work DONE! And thanks be to the holiday on Thursday: do not think I could have made it through the week without it. Spent more time conscious at work than conscious at home, because once I get home from work I head straight for the couch and fall asleep there. Before lunchtime on the first day they had us working, and the only day I left the office on time was the day I wasn't given work (had quite enough to cope with, thank you). To be honest, work's gonna take some getting used to, but I suppose it's a good sign that when I left the office at 9pm tonight I wanted to walk right back in to work some more. (Then of course, on the train home, I realised how tired I was). Had to cancel a dinner with friends due to working overtime and exhaustion - first work-related cancellation on the second day of work, and it won't be my last. Had to postpone Japanese exam on Saturday because I didn't have enough time or energy during the week to make a passable attempt at studying. *wry smile* Wanted to make a post of Abyss-related images to convey the week, but am too tired to do so.

Did, however, manage to catch Blades of Glory for the second time on Monday with mangy_mongrel (my partner on ice in crime with regard to our love for this movie), lacewood, rukia, harajukufuuri and elvaron. (I love watching El smile during movies) We had an amazing, amazing audience: not even Pirates got this much cheering and applause!

I was reading this really fascinating article on Jon Heder (plays Jimmy in Blades of Glory, where he's blond, blue-eyed, pretty and the kind of uke that's "Scratch deep enough, and you'll find steel" - therefore automatically my favourite), where he was talking about his identical twin brother (I really can pick them, and unconsciously, too), and said, "But my brother and I think alike, know everything about one another, and when we get together, we block everything else out. Nothing exists in our world except for us."



This says that when they were young they used to finish each other's sentences, which is said to be a common thing for identical twins, but I do this with my close friends and siblings and have never found it to be an unusual occurrence. Sometimes it's not so much that I know what they're going to say because I know them so well, but more of I know what they're going to say, because it's the same thing as what I was going to say. An old friend of mine and I have been able to complete each other's sentences pretty much since the week we met, and now, some ten years on, we still do it.

I guess what I love so much about that Jon Heder quote was that it made me think of the people in the world who know you all the way through and through, and more than that, it made me think of the people I'm genuinely comfortable with, in the all the way down to my bones comfortable with them comfortable. I have that with very close friends and, probably because I've known them only for all their lives, with the siblings.

One of my strongest memories of the three of us together is one holiday where my brother came back from Australia the morning after I returned from London, and the other brother came home from the army on the same day. I was sleeping off the jet lag when they both came home, and when they came back they went straight up to my room, where after groggy hellos, one of them fell asleep on the couch and the other one on the floor.

And I don't think we said it in words then, but in that moment was Now we are complete.
