Reborn - Yamamoto CHIBITA
Went to the Games Convention Asia exhibition today, with the sibling. Wandered about like a kid in a candy shop. Both of us were quite taken with Lair: dragon-centric game for the PS3, incredibly gorgeous. However, same cannot be said for the controls. There was also a stage, on which was performed the most excruciating rendition of Sexyback I hope I will ever have to listen to. Decided I would very much like to acquire the free goodie bag, then became ensnared in labyrinth of devious organiser brilliance.

This is how to acquire the goodie bag:

1. Queue up for one of 200 Quest Cards, released every hour (or two hours).
2. Get eight stamps for the Quest Cards by visiting eight booths around the exhibition hall.
3. You must play a game at each booth in order to get a stamp.
4. Oh, and follow the really long queue at each booth, too.
5. Did not think that the game was worth the candle; however, have now acquired a massive paper bag with very visually pleasing Ragnarok II artwork on it, and a very dodgy-looking inflatable stick with the cartoony mascot on it. Looks eminently suitable for a vigorous game of Whacko.

Not all the games were idiot games: some games involved luck (Maple SEA game, which was essentially a guessing game), or a small measure of physical skill (one game was throwing flagged apples into the white portions of a design), or memory (the Audition game involved memorising a random sequence of DDR commands, which were then covered as the assistant asked you questions about the number and sequence of the commands). One booth gave up at the hordes of people flooding in and started to chop without making people play the games.

SOME GAMES REQUIRED TOTAL SHAMELESSNESS: yes, World of Warcraft booth, I AM LOOKING AT YOU. Warcraft game was also the most amusing: players chose two placards at random from a set. Each placard was an emote, which the player then had to perform. At the booth. In front of the assistants and everyone walking around and the entire audience of people waiting in the queue. Samples I saw were /chicken, /flex, and /kiss. Booth assistants incredibly helpful to small kids, even to the point of prompting them through the appropriate emotes.

And now for something completely unrelated: figure-skating. Here's a Japanese site about figure-skating that's incredibly pink, here.

I think I've found the figure skater that could be younger!Jimmy! Except this one has a higher seme factor. He also reminds me of Larsa from FFXII, if Larsa had been blond and a figure skater instead of the future emperor. His name is Franz Streubel, and he's a junior German skater. Very junior: He was born in 1991, which makes him sixteen this year.

This is what he looked like when he was younger:

Him and his Coach:

And there is even a Chazz for him: (they're both German junior skaters):

This is ChristopherBerneck. He's one year younger than real!Jimmy.

(Scratch the earlier comment. I've edited it.)

I was at a media event today, and it seems like the only thing that people said was appealing about GCA was...

... the girls. Uh.

Dropped by for a very short while on Thursday (all of ten minutes), though I think I'll have a more thorough look tomorrow. =D
8th-Sep-2007 02:46 pm (UTC)
*grin* Most unfortunately, I am unable to appreciate the girls, but I am happy that people other than I were able to. ;) They did strike me as rather young, though, but I suppose that's on par with the event.

I did think the offerings were rather sparse and that there wasn't much to interest one, but it was a free event, so I'm not complaining. ;) It'd be fun to hear what you think about the event, but I can't imagine your review of it will be any more positive than mine.

I just downloaded MapleStory recently because the Singapore town is just so cute. *pinches its cheeks!* xD

I'm kind of only interested in Nintendo DS games, though. I'm not a big fan of Sony and their money-eating ways. =/ I can't wait for that Figure Skater game to come out! You know there's also a Ratatouille game, right? It's probably out for the PS2, too. :)
9th-Sep-2007 06:44 pm (UTC)
... D8... the Singapore town has a tiny statute of CHIBI STAMFORD RAFFLES. I do not know whether to laugh or cry at the existence of a Singapore town. I mean. IF YOU LIVE IN IT WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU WANT TO PLAY IN IT, TOO, but that is just me. I thought games were about ESCAPISM! Not GETTING BACK into the world!

HAHA ;) The one thing I love about MASSIVE MOVIE GAMES is that they get released for ALL PLATFORMS. There's Ratatouille for XBox and the PC, too, so AS MANY PEOPLE CAN PLAY IT AS POSSIBLE.

LAUGHS AT THE FIGURE SKATING GAME. OKAY SWEETIE, I cover the figure skating books, YOU DO THE GAMES! ALSO OH OH OH I borrowed this Sasha Cohen book today!

I AGREE ON SONY AND THEIR MONEY EATING WAYS. CURSE THEM for releasing the PS3 the year I bought my PS2. ;)

Haha, Lair looks incredibly good...and incredibly D&D/Dragonlance-ish. I'm slowly bending to the power of Sony's death grip on all the pretty games...despite the ridiculous price they're PS3s are fetching.

I love dragons. Did I mention that? When I was a kid, all I could think about was how awesome it would be to be a dragonrider (this after my obsession with dinosaurs - my mother was sure I was actually the child of some sort of bizarre lizard).
9th-Sep-2007 06:52 pm (UTC)
OMG if you love dragons! Have you seen D-Wars? It's a Korean movie named Dragon Wars, and the special effects are amazing. Here is a trailer on youtube, though I highly recommend watching it from the website for much better breathtakingresolution. I never knew you liked dragons! ♥

If you love dragons, have you ever read Naomi Novik's Temeraire series? It is pretty much amazing, and I would recommend this book a thousand times over. ♥ I don't normally like dragons or naval settings, but this book won me over.

I was obsessed with dinosaurs as a child too! I blame it on Jurassic Park, which had both my siblings and I totally obsessed. My youngest brother wanted to be Alan Grant. XDDD

T_T I know what you mean! I went to the games store today and saw that LAIR cost S$105, or US $68. AND I'd still need a PS3 to play it. *facepalm* I told myself I wouldn't get one til the ENGLISH version of FFXIII came out.

Baby Jimmy!
9th-Sep-2007 06:53 pm (UTC)
Baby Jimmy indeed! He's completely good-looking, and he looks so very in-control, too!
8th-Sep-2007 01:57 am (UTC)
Holy crap, the resemblance is amazing.

How are you? I haven't heard from you in ages.
9th-Sep-2007 06:58 pm (UTC) - LOVES YOU SHACHOU!
It is such an amazing resemblance, isn't it? Except this young!Jimmy looks more seme and in-control than actual!Jimmy. ;) Buuuut I bet that Jimmy is such a consummate/obsessed skater that he could LEARN how to LOOK seme if the program called for it.

*snug!* Busy, but I know you are busy too! *snuuug* I saw you in class the other day! WANTED TO POUNCE ON YOU AND GLOMPTACKLE YOU A THOUSAND TIMES. I SHALL ACT ON MY WILD ♥!!! the next time!

I approve of the WoW booth! XDD
Actually, that sounds really fun. The whole event sounded fun, though. XD

Also...wow. I'm really amazed by the likeness between Streubel and Jimmy. o.O I mean, that's so...bizarre! :O
But it's really cute, too...and I love the Chaz! If only they would perform together! :D
9th-Sep-2007 07:04 pm (UTC)
OMGZ I KNEW you would approve of the WOW booth. I WISH YOU HAD BEEN THERE. We would have stood there and LAUGHED at the contestants. It was a pity there was a short queue (the only time I lament a short queue) when I was there, so I did not see as many people embarrassing themselves publicly as I would have liked. :D

XD! Maybe it's the way I write it that sounds fun? It was objectively pretty boring, but in hindsight I'm glad I did the crazy stuff. ;) It's the people you're with that make the event, too.

XD!! It is, isn't it? If only Blades of Glory had required a teenage Jimmy, this guy could've been casted! He's PERFECT for the role. Except he could be too seme. ;)

Hee! Those kids are young yet, so maybe, one day, they WILL perform together! ;) WE CAN STILL HOPE! :D (They may even do so: BUT IN GERMAN ICE SHOWS, SOBS)
8th-Sep-2007 02:10 am (UTC)
Lol, that's amazing. I agree with the Larsa thing too. Those skaters are so elegant. My posture is terrible, I'm ashamed.
8th-Sep-2007 02:23 pm (UTC)
Your icon is strangely mesmerising.
8th-Sep-2007 02:37 am (UTC)
...that kid is CUTE [in a aw I wanna pat your head kinda way]. And the same age as my brother. Whut. XD
9th-Sep-2007 07:18 pm (UTC)
XD! I never seem to want to pat cute kids' heads. My reaction to CUTE kids are OMG C'MERE I WANNA HUG THE LIFE OUTTA YOU.

omg. This dude is younger than my brothers. *FEELS ANCIENT* *creaks obligingly*

I hope the kid grows up to be handsome!
8th-Sep-2007 02:33 pm (UTC)
OMG. They are SO RIGHT! As Jimmy and Chazz respectively.

*goes looking for YouTube clips* *finds ONE of Chazz*

Seems like he skates more like Jimmy. More classical. And the background conversation can get kind of annoying.
9th-Sep-2007 07:21 pm (UTC)

!!! Thank you for the Chazz clip! I wouldn't even have thought to go searching for them myself! I really enjoyed it, although I thought they could've chosen a better vantage point, although I suppose it was "ALL THE BETTER TO SEE YOUR JUMPS WITH". :)

I was actually quite amused by the background convo, because it made it seem so normal. XDDDD But it did rather detract from the effect of the MUSIC.

8th-Sep-2007 02:40 pm (UTC)
Oh man... those 2 skaters are SO slashable. But I find blondie more seme.
9th-Sep-2007 07:31 pm (UTC)
They are, aren't they? *grin* I find the blond most seme, too. There is something of an air of command in the way he holds himself in the first photograph.
8th-Sep-2007 06:00 pm (UTC)
Ragnarok II artworks ! Can I see them can i please ?
9th-Sep-2007 07:33 pm (UTC)
There was only one artwork on the bag itself, one of a spiky-haired blond dude in battle gear. He looked so cute and chibi. I can't find the image online, though! If you see me IRL, maybe?
9th-Sep-2007 01:24 am (UTC)
I can finally relate to anything Blades of Glory related. Uhm. Yay? :D

He so looks like Jimmy in that picture of him with his coach ♥♥♥
9th-Sep-2007 07:39 pm (UTC) - THREE CHEERS!! *BEAMS*
I AM SO HAPPY!! *snug* You finally saw the movie! ♥ Did you like it? :))) *hopes you did* ♥

He does, though, doesn't he? So EXCITED and all hand-flappy while waiting with his coach for the results. All he needs is a stuffed toy. ;)
9th-Sep-2007 10:24 am (UTC)
Oh, you went to GCA as well! :D

Due to my laziness of not wanting to queue up for games, heheh. AND YES, LAIR WAS GORGEOUS. <3
9th-Sep-2007 07:42 pm (UTC)
Yes, I did! ;) I didn't know you went, too, and I hope you enjoyed your time over here! ♥

D:! I wish I could've given you mine. It is huge and big and I do not quite know where to put it, but it is pretty. I kind of didn't want to queue for the games, but I was, "since I've already wasted 20 minutes queuing for the card... LET'S GO WASTE MORE TIME to make the 20 minutes worth it". ;)

I am so happy to hear that you're reading Blades fanfiction! *beams* ;) I hope you enjoy it! It has surprisingly good fanfic for such a CRAZY movie!
9th-Sep-2007 10:40 am (UTC)
LOL, awwwh.. he's so cute!

I am loving his Chazz's outfit.
9th-Sep-2007 07:38 pm (UTC)
LOVES YOUR ICON CHOICE! It's just beautiful! ;)

*beams* I think he's adorable, too!

XD AND HIS CHAZZ'S OUTFIT, OH MY HEAVENS. I think it should be ILLEGAL for anyone to skate in that, the poor things. MY EYES. So... VIVIDLY and VIOLENTLY COLOURED.
9th-Sep-2007 04:40 pm (UTC)
Oh My God. Hector has a MySpace.

And Chazz updated his to include 'My Humps'. XD
OMGZ I LOVES YOU. His myspace was created 05/30/07 , and his url is http://www.myspace.com/hector_macelroy. Bless YOU, Hector, God Bless Your Heart. I love that in his blog entry people are "HE'S MINE" - as in JIMMY'S MINE. XDDDDD HOWLS.
